Frequesntly Asked Questions
1. Does the Pass Harmonic Filter work in any home or business?
Yes, the Harmonic Filter will work in any home, business, retail space or industrial application as long as a neutral bus is available and has measurable current in the power distribution panel.
2. Are there any installation considerations?
The Harmonic Filter is encased in a weatherproof, sealed enclosure. In most cases, it will be mounted external and adjacent to the power distribution panel. The necessary mounting hardware is provided and shipped with each unit.
3. How long will the Harmonic Filter last?
A five (5) year product warranty is provided by distributors. To date we have not been able to determine the full life expectancy of the Harmonic Filter.
4. What is the Harmonic Filter Warranty?
The Harmonic Filter Warranty consists of a 1-year Limited Manufacturers Warranty and a five (5) year Distributor Extended Warranty operating concurrently. Extended warranties are available for purchase at the time of initial product purchase.
5. Will the Harmonic Filter affect any of my appliances and their normal operations?
No, the Harmonic Filter will not adversely affect any appliances or electrical devices.
6. Is the Harmonic Filter tested and approved by independent labs?
Yes, the Harmonic Filter has a UL 916 rating and is approved by Met Labs. Additional third party testing was performed by an independent lab and achieved positive results. Independent lab tests are an ongoing part of our research and development.
7. How much can I expect to save per month by using the Harmonic Filter?
The typical savings for the unit is 10% (ranges 7-15%) on average for commercial applications, 20% (ranges 15-28%) on average in a residential application and 8% for light industrial.
8. How long will it take for the Harmonic Filter to pay for itself?
The rate of return is based on several factors such as energy consumption, number of units, and the cost of electricity at that location. It is based upon consumption. The higher the consumption rate, the greater the savings thus a shorter rate of return. Typically this can range from 3 months to 18 months depending on multiple factors.
9. How difficult is it to install the unit, and who is qualified to perform the installations?
A typical installation requires less than 1 hour per panel on average. Installations must be performed by a factory trained installer or a certified licensed electrician.
10. Why haven’t I heard of this product until now?
Our Harmonic Filter has not been readily available until now. We have spent considerable time testing this product to insure that it provides the savings claimed and functions as designed while meeting our quality standards. With over 7000 units installed and successfully operating, we are pleased to finally release it to the marketplace.
11. What about Harmonic Filter for Surge Protection?
The Harmonic Filter is not a surge protector or line conditioner nor does it need this equipment to function as designed.
12. Does the Harmonic Filter save any energy on Resistive (non-motor) loads?
Yes, the Harmonic Filter reduces consumption of energy across the spectrum of loads within any residential or commercial application. The highest savings is associated with non-linear low voltage loads such as those found on computers, lighting, office peripheral equipment, etc....
13. Can the Harmonic Filter cause my electric bill to go up and does it use electricity when there is little or no power demand?
The unit is installed on the neutral side of a power distribution panel. It is not a consumer of electricity but rather a passive device designed to provide an energy savings.
14. Is the Harmonic Filter available for sale in Canada or other Countries?
Our Harmonic Filter is currently being introduced and is available for sale into Canada, the Bahamas, Bermuda, Barbados, Mexico, Jamaica, Europe and Australia.
15. Mounting Considerations – what if the Residential Power Panel is flush-mounted in an exposed area?
The Harmonic Filter is encased in a weatherproof and sealed enclosure. Ideally we would like to install the unit on the interior of the building near the electric panel, however it can be mounted outdoors. All associated mounting hardware for either application is shipped with the unit.
16. What is the difference between Harmonic Filter and other “Energy Savings” devices in the market?
The Harmonic Filter is a revolutionary device that returns unused energy to proper phase and polarity on the neutral side, thus decreasing the over all demand within the system. It does not store or consume energy, and it has no moving parts, capacitors, or resistors. Additionally, the Harmonic Filter does not require the use of surge suppressors or spike protection.
17. Does the Harmonic Filter consume energy on its own?
No. The Harmonic Filter is a passive device installed on the Neutral side of your electrical panel.
18. Is the Harmonic Filter a power factor correcting device?
No.
19. Are there any tax incentives for buying the Harmonic Filter unit?
It is always prudent to consult your local tax preparer.
20. Can Harmonic Filter be mounted on the outside of the building?
The Harmonic Filter is encased in a weatherproof and sealed enclosure. The ideal installation is on the interior. However, it can be mounted externally and adjacent to the existing distribution panel. All associated mounting hardware for either application is shipped with the unit.
21. Will Harmonic Filter affect lighting control systems, telephone or television signals that are sent over the AC line?
No, the Harmonic Filter is a passive device, which by design, will not emit any harmful interference or affect total harmonic distortion.
22. Some customers using other “Energy Savings Devices” attached to the “Hot” side have not experienced any energy savings. Does this mean we will not see any energy savings with the Harmonic Filter?
No. On the contrary, we use no capacitors, resistors, surge protection, spike protection, or moving parts. Our technology is revolutionary and patented, it has been independently proven, third party tested and supported by substantial case study data and consumer testimonials to verify that our product provides the savings reflected in our literature.
23. Does Harmonic Filter protect me from Surges and Spikes?
No. Our Harmonic Filter is a passive device that resides on the Neutral side of your power distribution panel. It is unproven science that a device which protects from surges and spikes can actually reduce power consumption, thus resulting in a savings to the consumer.
24. What causes power line surges?
Surges can be classified as external and internal. External surges are generally more severe than internal surges while internal surges generally occur more frequently (about 80% of all surges are internal). Storms and normal power company switching operations frequently cause external surges. Internal surges occur as a result of equipment cycling on and off within the building.
25. How often do surges occur?
Very large surges occur infrequently (from a few times a year in medium exposure areas to 40 times a year in high exposure areas), since they are primarily storm induced (lightning and temporary interruptions due to storm damage). Surges over 1000 volts may occur many times a day since they are caused by normal equipment operation.
26. Can Harmonic Filter help resolve issues with interruptions in electricity?
No.
27. Can Harmonic Filter be used with a back-up power generator?
Yes.
